Graduate Awards

The late Claudette MacKay-Lassonde , P.Eng., was a pioneer for women and a leader in the engineering community. Founder of CEMF, she built the Foundation along with other concerned professional engineers in response to the killing of 14 women engineering students at École Polytechnique in 1989. She held degrees in chemical engineering, nuclear engineering and business and was passionate about supporting women in engineering. Her daughter Julie, also an engineer, is a CEMF Board Director.

In Ms. Lassonde’s memory, two $15,000 awards are granted to women studying engineering full-time. One award for a Masters level, and one award for the PhD level. 

These are ambassadorial awards and applicants must demonstrate they are leaders, ambassadors for the profession, and serve as role models for other women who dream of becoming engineers.

Eligibility

• Must self-identify as a woman
• Possess Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency Status
• Be a graduate of an accredited engineering program from a Canadian university or have a P. Eng. designation or be a recognized E.I.T. in their province of residence and currently enrolled as a full-time graduate student in an engineering program at a Canadian university
