Amanda Pushka
Clarisse Schneider is a second year software en-
gineering student who has an affinity for visual pres-
entation and user interfacing.
Among her many accomplishments, she has
founded an on-campus user experience group (UX)
namedWaterlUX, that provides students the oppor-
tunity to learn front-end design and workflows out-
side the classroom and workplace. She also
volunteers for open houses providing tours for
prospective students and participates in the Engi-
neering Shadow Program mentoring high school
girls. So far she has taken on three prospective stu-
dents as shadows and has had four first-year
mentees. Her goal is to keep excelling in her field
while promoting the possibilities in information and
communication engineering programs to young
womenandencourage themtoachieve theunthink-
able; to be successful as a female in technology.
Clarisse Schneider est une ingénieure logicielle
de deuxième année qui a des affinités pour la
présentationvisuelleet les dispositifs d'interfaceutil-
isateur.
Parmi ses nombreuses réalisations, elle a fondé
ungrouped'« expérienceutilisateur » (UX) intra cam-
pus nomméWaterlUX, qui fournit aux étudiants l'oc-
casiond'apprendre la conceptionet les processus de
base en dehors de la salle de classe et du milieu de
travail. Jusqu'ici elle a pris trois étudiantes poten-
tielles sous sonaile commeobservatrices sur le cam-
pus et a assisté quatre mentorées de première
année. Son but est de continuer à exceller dans son
domaine tout en faisant lapromotiondespossibilités
dans les programmes de technologie de l'informa-
tion et des communications auprès de jeunes
femmes et de les encourager à réaliser l'impensable:

technologies.

AmandaPushka is awell-rounded third-year civil
engineering student in the School of Engineering at
the University of Manitoba who excels in all types of
athletics and music while making the Dean’s List on
a consistent basis. It is her long-time involvement
with team sports that has taught her leadership and
communication skills as well as helped build a solid
character. She believes the key togood communica-
tion is having an overall sense of respect no matter
who you are speaking with and her goal is to show
today’s young women how a career in engineering
can complement various likes andhobbies.Whether
you end up designing electric guitars and amps or
become part of the engineering team for a new
sports stadium, engineeringplays an integral part. As
the gender wall has fallen, Amanda wants to urge
today’s youngwomen to look to the sciences instead
of the administrative pool.

vous retrouviez à concevoir des guitares électriques

d'ingénieried'unnouvelamphithéâtresportif,legénie
fait partie intégrante de bien des aspects profession-
nels. Alors que l'égalité des sexes est maintenant de
misepartout, Amandaveut inciter les jeunes femmes
d'aujourd'hui à envisager une carrière en sciences
plutôt qu'en administration.
