Sabrina Hiefer is a second year environmental
engineeringstudent attendingAcadiaUniversity. She
is an involved leader both on campus and in the
community. Sabrina was elected as a first year
representative for Acadia
s EngineeringSociety – the
onlywomanelected that year. Sheencouragedother
women in engineering to joinher the following year.
Following her passion for the environment,
Sabrina has served as the coordinator of the Envi-
ronment and Sustainability Organization at Acadia.
She was also instrumental in creating the Atlantic
Youth Environmental Council to help bridge
communication among neighbouring universities,
and is planning a conference geared at engaging
and empowering students in government.
Sabrina is a motivated volunteer at her
community
s food bank, donating five hours of
her time each week for the past five years.
Sabrina looks forward to her future as an
engineer, and says, “Engineering is not simply a
degree, it truly is a lifestyle – constantly analysing
your surroundings, being aware of how every-
thing functions, and solving problems of all sizes.”
