WWW.CEMF.CALaura Brown is a student at Laurentian Univer-
sity where she received her Bachelor’s degree in
mining engineering in 2014. She is now working
toward her Masters in natural resources engineer-
ing, focusing on seismic hazards specific to under-
groundmining environments. In 2014 she worked
at the LaRonde Mine in Abitibi-Temiscamingue,
where she researched mining induced seismicity.
In 2013, she worked for Vale at the Creighton Mine
in Sudbury on ground control, ventilation, and
planning and trained others on the use of the seis-
mic system. Shewon a NSERCMasters Scholarship
in 2014 as well as the Goodman School of Mines
Masters Scholarship. Her academic achievements
include other awards including placing second in
the 2013 CIM Student Poster Competition. Active
in the Army Cadet Corps in high school, her interest
in volunteering continues, running elections and
blood donor campaigns. Laura is a Big Brothers Big
Sisters mentor, giving her a unique personal per-
spective in addition to her passion for mining en-
gineering.

tilation, à la planification et à la formation de nou-
veaux utilisateurs du système de séismes. Laura a
gagné la bourse de maîtrise du CRSNGC en 2014
ainsi que la bourse demaîtrise duGoodman School
of Mines. Ses réalisations universitaires compren-
nent aussi d'autres prix incluant la deuxième place
à la compétition étudiante d'affiches de l'ICMMP en
2012. À l'école secondaire, Laura est active au sein
du corps de cadets de l'armée et elle poursuit ses
activités de bénévolat en gérant les élections et des
campagnes de dons de sang. Laura est une grande
sœur pour le groupe des Grands frères, grandes
sœurs, expérience qui lui donne une perspective
personnelle au-delà de sa passion pour le génie
minier.

Women in Engineering in 2013, and was the Hospi-
tality Coordinator for the 4th annual Women in Sci-
ence andEngineeringevent, in2014. She is involved
withUBCWomen in Engineering,WestcoastWomen
in Engineering, Science, andTechnology, and theDi-
visionfortheAdvancementofWomeninEngineering
and Geoscience., acting an ambassador to promote
the profession to young women. Alexandra is a
member of theNational LifesavingSociety anda stu-
dentmember of APEGA. In2013, shehelpeddesign
and build a hovercraft. As part of another team
Alexandra worked on a project to improve the cur-
rent TrailRider™ Black Diamond, a device used to as-
sist the physically disabled experience the outdoors.
Aspart of her volunteerworkwithWestcoastWomen
in Engineering, Science, and Technology, she has
workedwithgirls andyoungwomen inbothelemen-
tary and high schools, encouraging them to follow
engineering careers.
Alexandra Dozzi est étudiante de troisième

unes femmes. Alexandra est membre de la Société
canadienne de sauvetage et membre étudiante de
APEGA (Association of Professionnal Engineers and
Geoscientists of Alberta). En 2013, elle participe à la
conception et à la construction d'un aéroglisseur et,
au sein d'une autre équipe, elle s'implique dans le
projet d'amélioration de l'actuelTrailRider™Black Di-
amond, appareil permettant aux personnes àmobil-
ité réduite de vivre une expérience dans la nature.
Bénévole pour leWestcoast Women in Engineering,
Science, and Technology, elle travaille avec les filles
du primaire et les jeunes femmes du secondaire afin
